Avantium, employing around 200 people and operating extensive R&D laboratories along with three pilot plants in Geleen and Delfzijl, the Netherlands, stands at the forefront of the emerging renewable and sustainable chemistry industry. The material’s vast potential spans packaging, textiles, and films – markets collectively valued at over $200 billion.
The FDCA production line, plant Delfzijl
The FDCA plant in Delfzijl marks a monumental achievement in industrial chemistry. Dubbed ’the sleeping giant,’ FDCA has been pursued for over a century due to its potential to revolutionize the production of polymers such as polyesters, polyamides, and polyurethanes, along with coating resins, plasticizers, and other chemical products. Avantium’s YXY® Technology has now made it possible to harness the full potential of FDCA, setting a new benchmark in the industry.
FIB Technologies contributed to this pioneering project by manufacturing nine stainless steel pressure vessels, essential components of the FDCA production line. This collaboration underscores FIB’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in engineering and manufacturing.
The project reached a milestone when FIB’s Sales Manager, Harold A. van der Veen, and Commercial Director Albert Botter, were warmly welcomed at Avantium’s Delfzijl plant by H.J. de Kleijn and Peter Mangnus. The visit highlighted the strong partnership and shared dedication to pioneering solutions.
